Computer phone

The phone opens in the browser, with nothing else to install: it is your extension, on the computer, with its number and its voicemail. Address: /telephone/ on the portal (the Phone link in the menu, or the one in your invitation if your account is limited to the phone). If your session has expired, the phone takes you through the sign-in page, then brings you back.

You need a microphone (the computer’s or a headset). On the first call, the browser asks for permission to use the microphone: accept. Also allow notifications (see below) to see incoming calls when the window is in the background.

The window

On a computer:

  • On the left, the icon column: Home (the house, like the operator’s logo) brings you back to the call log, with the number of missed calls; Contacts; Status; at the bottom, diagnostics, installing (the desktop app on Windows and Mac) and your account (the green dot shows the phone is ready).
  • The favourites panel: Make a call at the top opens the keypad; below, your favourites, ready to call in one click, and the All contacts link.
  • The main area, with at the top the Recent, Missed and Voicemail tabs (with the number of missed calls and unheard messages), your extension, the external number it shows to the people you call, and the line status: Ready when the phone can make and receive calls. Offline: the connection is down, the phone reconnects on its own. Contacts, the keypad and the call in progress show there too, with the panel staying on the left.

On a mobile phone (or a narrow window), no panel: tabs at the bottom of the screen, Recent, Contacts, Keypad, Voicemail and Status, which stay visible above the list while it scrolls; your account and diagnostics are reached from Status.

An incoming call rings and shows at the top right, on every screen, with a red button to decline and a green button to answer. If the connection drops while it rings, it stops and counts among the missed calls: it could no longer be answered. The number of missed calls and unheard messages also shows on the installed app’s icon.

Install it as an app

On Windows and Mac, the phone offers the desktop app: the same phone, in an app of its own, which receives calls even with the browser closed. The download icon at the bottom of the icon column leads to My account, where, as in Status, Download for Windows or Download for Mac downloads it, with the portal address to paste on first launch.

On Linux, on a phone or a tablet, the phone installs from the browser: once installed, it has its own window and icon, like an app. The Install the app button (download icon at the bottom of the icon column, or in My account) appears when this is possible:

  • Chrome or Edge: it opens the browser’s install window.
  • Safari: it reminds you of the gesture, Share, Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad.

It disappears once the app is installed. The installed app also opens tel: and sip: links (a number clicked in a web page or an email): the browser asks you the first time whether it should handle them. If you already installed it this way on Windows or Mac, it keeps working.

Your line on the mobile phone

In My account, the Mobile phone section also installs your line on your mobile phone, in your operator’s app, which rings even with the screen off: Show the QR code, install the app shown (App Store or Google Play), then scan the code with the phone’s camera. On the phone itself, the Set up my line link does the same. The code and the link contain your extension’s password: show them to no one, and Hide clears them from the screen.

The screens

  • Recent, the home screen: your extension’s call log, grouped by day, numbers in full. Each call shows its outcome (outgoing, received, missed in red, cancelled, message left), the length of the conversation and the time; the green phone icon calls back, the three dots (⋮) open Add to contacts (for an unknown number) and Call details. A caller who withheld their number cannot be called back. Missed keeps only the unanswered calls. At the top, Search calls (a contact’s name, a number even partial typed as 06… or +33…, an extension) and the Period (today, last 7 or 30 days, all) search the whole log, combined with the tab; Older calls loads more.
  • Keypad (Make a call): dial a number or an extension on screen or on the computer keyboard (digits, *, #, +; Backspace deletes, Enter calls), then the green button with the phone icon (Call). A French number shows in pairs as you type (06 12 34 56 78, +33 6 12 34 56 78); pasting with dots or dashes works. During the call: Mute cuts your microphone, Hold puts the other party on hold, Keypad sends tones (voice menu); the computer keyboard’s keys send them too. The red button (Hang up) ends the call. Microphone and speaker chooses the headset or the speakers. If the browser or the desktop app blocks the call audio (you cannot hear the other party), a banner says so: Turn on sound restores it; a chosen speaker that is no longer plugged in gives way to the system one.
  • Contacts (on mobile, with your Favourites first): My contacts, your personal contacts (a name, a company if you like, up to five numbers), seen only by you: Add a contact; clicking a contact opens its card, to edit or delete it. Below, Company: the other extensions of your organization and its shared directory. The search covers them all. When adding, Share with the whole company puts the contact in the shared directory, seen by all your colleagues (a name and a number), if your company allows it; you then edit or delete the directory contacts you added (the administrator, all of them). The star pins a contact to your favourites or removes it (30 favourites at most). Your personal contacts and favourites are part of your personal data export and are deleted with your account.
  • Voicemail (the tab; on mobile, Voicemail at the bottom): your voice messages; listening marks the message as read, the bin deletes it. If your extension has no voicemail, the tab simply says so.
  • Status: Do not disturb (the phone no longer rings: calls follow your busy forwarding, otherwise voicemail) and Forward all my calls to a landline or mobile in your country. Other forwarding is set in My extension. Below, the Ringtone (classic, discreet, old telephone or one of the melodies; Listen to hear it), remembered by this browser and played on the chosen speaker, and Notifications (see below). Lastly, on a computer, the desktop app: Download for Windows or for Mac, and the portal address to paste on first launch.
  • My account (the initial at the bottom of the column; on mobile, from Status): your mobile phone, installing as an app, then your account security: passkeys, password change (a link sent to your address), sign-out from all devices and your personal data, like the portal’s My account page.

Call notifications

With notifications, an incoming call shows in a corner of the screen as soon as the phone window is not in front of you (minimized, hidden or behind another application); the notification stays until you act on it.

  • Clicking the notification answers and brings the phone window back. If you would rather the click only brought the window back, untick Clicking the notification answers the call in Status.
  • The Answer and Decline buttons: on a Mac, they are hidden under Options (hover over the notification); on Windows, they show below the text.

To allow them: Allow notifications on the home screen or in Status. Status then shows where they stand: allowed, not allowed yet, or blocked by the browser (then allow them in the site settings, the icon left of the address, and reload the page). Test a notification shows one to check.

Allowed but nothing shows? The system is blocking them:

  • Mac: System Settings, Notifications, then Google Chrome (or your browser), or the installed Phone app: Allow notifications, Alerts style (a banner disappears on its own). Also turn off Focus (macOS Do Not Disturb).
  • Windows: Settings, System, Notifications: turn them on, then those of your browser or of the Phone app. Focus assist holds them back too.

Each notification attempt, and its result, is written to the diagnostics log.

If something goes wrong: diagnostics

The Diagnostics screen (the wrench, at the bottom of the icon column; on mobile, from Status) helps your operator understand a problem: connection status (WebSocket, registration, last server response, each status followed by its code in brackets), the chosen microphone and its permission, the speaker, audio playback during a call (playing or blocked, audio element paused or not, received tracks), a summary of the last call (audio received and sent, losses, jitter, network path), and the log of the last 500 events. Export the log saves a text file to attach to your request; Copy puts it on the clipboard. The log stays in your browser and is sent to no one without your action; passwords and authentication headers are removed from it.
